Tickets wise, we would urge you to decide what you’re doing for New Year as soon as possible & buy your NYE tickets quickly to avoid disappointment – you don’t want to be all dressed up with nowhere to go! Fastest selling NYE tickets at the moment are for New Hero’s 1985 bash, 13 Monsters at The Loft, Tru Thoughts at Funky Buddha Lounge, Stick It On at the King & Queen & the Masquerade Ball at The Hanbury but pretty much everything tends to sell out in advance. We’ve also received tickets for Marina & The Diamonds, James Taylor Quartet, Evolution with Micky Finn & various others this week. Fastest selling other tickets at the moment are Grizzly Bear / Beach House, Delphic, Laura Veirs, Fujiya & Miyagi, Bat For Lashes, Yeasayer & La Roux. Also, we have been allowed to continue to sell Great Escape tickets at the Super Early Bird price for the time being (despite them going up online) so get them here if you haven’t got yours yet. Festive Greetings to you all!
Whether you’ve been sledging, snowball fighting, snowman building, skiving off work, falling on your bum or just enjoying how beautiful Brighton & Hove looks in the snow, we hope you’ve made the most of the snowfall this week.
For those of you who haven’t finished your Xmas shopping yet, playtime’s over – you’ve got just 5 days left! If you need some inspiration, check out our picks of the year or our gift ideas (at the top), pop in & we’ll help you out or if we don’t have what you need, you may still have time to order it if you’re very quick. Failing all that, vouchers are a great option as they can be used on anything in the shop, including tickets. We also have a decent selection of non-cheesy Christmas music, so if you’re sick of hearing Slade & Mariah every year, mix it up a bit with something from Sufjan Stevens, Phil Spector, Low, Slow Club, Bob Dylan, James Brown & more.
Right then, as you’ve probably gathered, the music industry tends to go to sleep at this time of year so there aren’t many new releases for you to check out but if, like us, you constantly crave newness for your ears, there are thankfully still a few choice bits in this week. Pick of the crop is an album we overlooked a few weeks back but after The Wire made if their number 2 album of the year, we checked it out again & realise what an oversight it was. If you are into your kraut / synths / dusty electronics then the Oneohtrix Point Never album is definitely one for you. There are also ace releases from Alexander Tucker (yet another release from the brilliant Latitudes series)……Celestial Mass is a new Finders Keepers comp of space inspired cosmic rock………..there’s a monstrous split 12″ from tour mates Sic Alps & Magik Markers………Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy) releases a vinyl only rootsy record as Bonny Billy & The Picket Line……..fans of Blank Dogs & Dum Dum Girls will want to check out The Mayfair Set album – a Captured Tracks released collaboration……..all this & more are detailed on the mini new releases list at the top – just click on the link.
