Wowzers! That was one seriously hectic week that we won’t be repeating again in a hurry!! The most important thing though is that it was a great success & that you lot all seemed to enjoy yourself at the instores & during Record Store Day – as did we. We are very very grateful for all the support (& the cakes) we have had from you this week – it made it all worth while. We were very proud to hold some of the best instores we’ve ever had here & all the artists who have played have been utterly brilliant to work with, so many, many thanks to Blue Roses, Bela Emerson, Birdengine & Jacob’s Stories for playing on our birthday, William Elliott Whitmore, Daniel Michaelson & Fujiya & Miyagi for continuing the festivities & finally to Emiliana Torrini for bringing the week to a fittingly brilliant end on Record Store Day itself. If you’d like to see some of the photos from this week’s events, I am attempting to work out how to put them on our news/blog/web page thing but haven’t managed to compress the files yet. I’ll get one of the kids who knows how to do modern things to get them onto our Facebook page asap this week. If in the meantime any of you have good photos or film footage of any of this week’s events (or indeed any others) please let us have a copy.
Gluttons for punishment that we are, we have arranged another instore for you which is by no means going to be a quiet one. So, we are very excited to announce that, to celebrate the release of The Maccabee’s new single, ‘Love You Better’, we will be welcoming the band back to play another instore here on the day of release, Monday 27th April at 6pm. To guarantee entry to the show, you will need a ticket – just ask instore to find out how to get your hands on your free ticket (or call 01273 606312). If its anything like the last time they played here, it’s going to be a full on, packed out show, so you won’t want to miss out! As an extra bonus, anyone who preorders the album at the instore will receive a signed copy of the cd upon its release the following week.
Even before that though, on Wednesday of this week (22nd), the fabulous Tom Brosseau will be popping by at 5.30pm with his guitar, to play a set of songs for us. Feel free to pop down & keep us company – this will be his 3rd instore here. The crazy man just can’t keep away! If you’ve not seen him before though, you should come & see what this weirdy troubadour is all about. He made a customer faint last time he played in the shop – he’s that good!!
Further ahead, we’ll also be welcoming back the Fence Collective’s lovely Pictish Trail on Friday May 8th, prior to his gig at the Quadrant that evening.
