john & tom
gonna lay down my old guitar
close harmonies entwine the talents of tom brosseau & john c reilly in the centre of a whirling, blustering blues.
this wailing lament is filtered through a post-urban back alley, with the darkly insistent drumming of jack white giving it a ‘true blood’ twist, full of the pathos of modern southern gothic. both of these songs were originally penned by the delmore brothers & the combination of reilly’s croon & brosseau’s clear & plaintive howls make for a fine rendition.
