a feast of swirling juddering synths, wailing guitars, motorik stomp and extraordinary songwriting - proper weird catchy/filthy pop.
Announcing their arrival with a glam foot-stomp and a dirty, squelchy beat that thrusts behind Lias’ familiar edge-of-collapse vocals, we know we’ve boarded an intergalactic trip to the future past. A feast of swirling juddering synths, wailing guitars, motorik stomp and extraordinary songwriting – this is a set bursting with twists, turns and mind-altering madness. The “fictional Psychedelic Ouija Pop” band came into existence on the Eccentronic Research Council’s 2015 concept album ‘Johnny Rocket, Narcissist…’ and are comprised of 2 members of the aforementioned band in cahoots with Fat White Family’s Lias and Saul. The record also boasts contributions from Slow Club’s Rebecca Taylor, Phil Oakey, Randy Jones the Cowboy from The Village People & YOKO-flipping-ONO, who sings and yowls on epic closer ‘This Cities Undone’.
“a thrillingly daft and ambitious exercise in sheer self-belief” 8/10 – line of best fit.
