Toby Hay

the state 51 conspiracy

Released: 22nd Jun 2018

Released: 22nd Jun 2018

the exceptionally talented 12-string guitarist has produced a revitalising and spiritual set of instrumental folk arrangements that evoke the beauty of untampered nature – with no lyrics or vocals to distract the ear, the music is able to roam wild and free and beautiful.

hay has lived all his life on the edge of the mid-Wales town of Rhayader; a place of dark skies and wild weather where, as Hay says, "everything moves at a slower pace, and the air is fresh in the true sense of the word." His style, with its penchant for unusual tunings, and his distinctive sound often comes from a desire to make his guitar sound like another instrument altogether. Fans of john Renbourn, bert jansch and john fahey will adore this man’ fingerwork.
