an incredible record of life affirming genius - they pour hearts & souls out with wailing fiddles, rivers of guitar & refracted, rippling drums - as subtle as it is unhinged.

the dirty three reconvene to pour hearts & souls out with wailing fiddles, rivers of guitar & refracted, rippling drums. warren ellis has been rather busy with nick cave in grinderman, not to mention scoring & arranging for films like ‘the road’ & ‘the proposition’, whilst mick turner has been delivering cracking solo albums & jim white has been drumming with bonnie ‘prince’ billy & nina nastasia. but the magic that occurs when they entwine their inimitable skills is breathtaking & unmissable. melancholic meanderings out to sea, flights through a volcanic tear of molten fiddle-feedback & scattershot percussions & joyous folk-tinged fevers.

matt  recommends: "a beautiful album of free form, jazz inspired rock of the most minimalist kind - genius!".
