Released: 6th Jan 2014

malkmus & his jicks deliver a set of focused slacker-tinged indie gems, incorporating varied influences from television’s jazz-punk & classic pop songcraft to dub jams & crooked riff-rock.

recorded in rural belgium with former pavement live sound engineer remko schouten, the album sees malkmus take inspiration from his move to the city of berlin while managing to keep the american indie rock sound of his previous work intact. the result is a charmingly ramshackle, breezily melodic & smoothly delivered set with a tangible sense of fun in the playing & some of the most satisfying ear-worms he’s recorded yet. malkmus says: "’wig out at jagbags’ is inspired by cologne, germany, mark von schlegell, rosemarie trockel, von spar & jan lankisch, can & gas; stephen-malkmus-imagined weezer/chili peppers, sic alps, uva in the late 80's, nyrb, aroma charlottenburg, inactivity, jamming, indie guys trying to sound memphis, flipper, pete townshend, pavement, the joggers, the nba & home life in the 2010's ..."
