Originally released by Ariola only in Holland, 'Roadmaster' is comprised of various previously unreleased recordings made for A&M between 1970 & 1972.

8 of these tracks come from an April 1972 session featuring usual L.A. suspects Clarence White, Byron Berline, Michael Clarke & Sneaky Pete, along with Memphis soul legend Spooner Oldham. Another 2 cuts come from a scrapped single played by the five founding members of The Byrds, recorded just prior to their 1973 reunion album. Though it is, in some ways, an odds & ends compilation, 'Roadmaster' holds up to Gene Clark's other albums of the time period ('White Light' & 'No Other'), all 3 of which are masterpieces of American folk & country-rock by a man who might stand behind only Bob Dylan himself in terms of pure songwriting skill.
