BRANDT BRAUER FRICK
For their tenth year as a band, the visionary trio revisits its roots with a record of taut percussion, club-ready grooves and charming melodic arrangements.
Formed by friends, Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick, the trio’s bricolage beats owe much to minimal masters Steve Reich and Philip Glass. with ‘Echo’, they’ve gone back to where they started and it’s an album that, says Brauer, “echoes our ten years of existence”. Flawlessly produced, it showcases the trio at the peak of their powers, masterfully playing with dynamics and precision whilst surging between serene minimalism and slo-mo 4x4 beats. Their typically knotty assemblages of all manner of instruments and unlikely percussive sources are still present, giving way to irresistible groove. Fans of portico quartet, penguin café orchestra and early gogo penguin will love it!
