There’s a closeness to Courtney Barnett here that she’s not shown before; for the first time, Barnett’s moved from telling you stories to inviting you inside them.

It’s a marked change in feel, if not in sound, to her previous work – she still drives close to the triffids, the go-betweens, kurt vile, but now wealds that song writing ability to draw you closer rather than keep you away.
