The album includes original tracks as well as 3 newly re recorded tracks and an additional track originally recorded for Ghostbusters II but not featured in the film. The film was the eighth highest grossing film of 1989, earning over $200 million at the box office. Randy Edelman is one of the most celebrated comedy film composers. He has gained two nominations for a Golden Globe Award and been awarded a BAFTA Award and twelve BMI Awards, including the Highest Grossing Film Award for Ghostbusters II.
