fried (2015 reissue)

Released: 14th Aug 2015

perhaps the ultimate 'the clue's in the title' album, cope's second solo set was a musical acid trip refracted through a melodic pop sensibility - Notoriously, the sleeve featured a naked Cope crouched on top of a slag-heap clad only in a large turtle-shell.

despite the state cope was in - all recounted by the man himself in his 'repossessed' memoir - 'fried' is a work of lunatic genius and contains, in 'sunspots' and 'reynard the fox', arguably his two greatest recordings. originally released just six months after his debut and the first cope record to feature donald ross skinner. This version contains a bonus disc of B-sides and sessions as well new notes by venerable journo and longtime cope publicist Mick Houghton, all contained in a 24 page booklet with rare photos and memorabilia. “shows cope at his dramatic best” – all music guide.
