Released: 26th Aug 2016

loose-hipped, primordial rock ‘n’ roll from Madrid - The Parrots have that genius-stupidity of all ace garage rock bands & they mix sunbaked stoner elation with a gleeful mangling of the English language.

the joy of this record lies in its fast pace (no song lasts longer than 3 minutes & the whole album clocks in at under 1/2 hour), unpolished, almost live sounding energy. raw, retro psychobilly with just the right amount of “now” to stop them from sounding like a tribute band. They cite Jonathan Richman, The Monks, The Groupies, 13th Floor Elevators, Buddy Holly & Elvis as inspiration & frontman Diego’s biggest musical love is Marc Bolan. “This band maybe backward looking in its influences, but they seem intent on taking these points of reference & merging the distortion, big reverb & classic songwriting to create an important body of work that will feed the current rockabilly/psychobilly resurgence. Bloody good stuff.” 8/10 – louder than war.
