even without words walker manages to imbue this orchestral work with the same perverse gothic aesthetic as his latter day masterpieces – this is a lesson in doom and fear laden soundscapes.
walker manages to wring the 46 string players here for every last bit of drama with each note – it’s typically fairly minimal but each note, each phrase and each movement is carefully considered and mutated to walker’s intense vision. “Like the score to a Hitchcock film, the music here teems with intricacy, menace and tension.” – 8/10, the line of best fit
