The Horrors
v
wolf tone
this lot have never stood still, and ‘v’ is no exception – they’ve drawn on inspiration from new order, Depeche mode and nitzer ebb here, while retaining their signature gloomy yet propulsive sound.
it’s certainly a grower – we’ve found that while we’ve loved each successive album from these guys, each has taken their time to worm into our heads – but it’s well worth the wait with some expertly crafted tunes that, once they’ve taken hold, will stay with you for weeks. “the horrors’ alchemical sticky-fingered raid through the ‘80s closet delivers some of the most thrilling, most substantial pop you’ll hear all year.” 4/5 – mojo.
