'what a boost' indeed! the 4th studio album from this is the kit's bass player / backing vocalist is a real leap forward in sound & songwriting resulting in a lush, confident & beautifully layered work.

self-produced with the help of a long list of musical friends including Kate Stables, Jamie Whitby Coles, Neil Smith (all This is the Kit), Chris Cohen, Joel Wästberg (Sir Was) & Sam Amidon, the warmth that this record exudes is enchanting. 2008’s 'Inside Over Here' & 2012’s 'Joined Sometimes Unjoined' were works of deliciously sad & beautiful pop full of heart-wrenching harmonies & unexpected instrumental flourishes. 2015's 'Friend' was a wonderfully measured ode to music’s remarkable power as an emotional salve. 'what a boost' is a triumphant progression that fans of lump (laura marling & mike lindsay) or lisa hannigan will relish.
