They are not mods - they are not from sleaford - but they are, for many, the saviours of the english ranting street-punk tradition, a glorious oasis of vented spleen and surrealist wit cast adrift among an ocean of the bland and amenable.

third album 'key markets' - named after a defunct grantham supermarket - sees wordsmith jason williamson and beatmeister andrew fearn doing the thing that the fall perfected way back in the day; more of the same, only more so. williamson's raging midlands brogue takes potty-mouthed potshots at everyone from ed milliand and boris johnson to blur's rhythm section, and, rather geekily, the von bondies. Fearn hooks up the minimalist post-punk/garage-band drum 'n' bass and stands well back. The results are incendiary, hilarious, and, on stream-of-splenetic-poetry cracker 'tarantula deadly gargo', uniquely weird. “a currently unrivalled feast for the mind” – 4/5 – mojo.
