REVENGE OF THE SHE-PUNKS: A FEMINIST MUSIC HISTORY

packed to the rafters with utterly essential bangers.
Inspired by Vivien Goldman’s vital writings of the same name, this scintillating compilation doesn’t just chart the often-over-looked history of incendiary, political & vibrant feminist punk music (although it certainly does do that with aplomb), it reframes the thread of DIY, anarchic & revolutionary sounds to reveal the female figures that are intrinsic to today’s musical landscape. It’s a thread that, when tugged, could unravel the heart of the alternative music scene yet was so often passed over when it came time to dishing out the accolades. It’s only shamefully now, in hindsight, that the deserving plaudits are being slung in the right directions.
“The “post-punk professor” traces empowering moments that punk holds, especially for women.” – Louder Than War
