superlative sonic manipulation, marrying submerged beats with odd tones, fragile structures & minimalist repetition - needs to be heard to be believed! a suite of electronic laments, tone structures & dreamtime rhythms swim behind intricately crafted sonic details.

south london’s darren cunningham completely changed the game of london bass music with 2010’s ‘splazsh’. ‘r.i.p’ zooms further in on the minimalist edge & microscopic sound surgery that made his music so beguiling. there are still danceable rhythms but they are almost implied, filtered between cyclic patterns of mesmerising poly-rhythms that gradually unveil their discernible patterns to almost rapturous effect. his intuitive & original grasp of textures & rhythm puts him on a parallel path to dance music innovators such as drexciya, t++, aphex twin & burial.

daniel recommends: "superlative sonic manipulation, marrying submerged beats with odd tones, fragile structures & minimalist repetition."

jason recommends: "darren cunningham’s third album as actress is a master class in abstract dance. fuzzy textures, mechanical drones, baleful strings, blurred pulsing rhythms & micro vocal samples combine to complete in my opinion his best work to date."

leo recommends: "a truly progressive album, sucking you into his strange world of hypnotic, ambient dance loops & distant melodic textures. develops his effortlessly unique sound into something dark & masterful."

matt recommends: "an album of massive scope that places actress at the forefront of the increasingly interesting, & ever evolving uk bass scene - this one needs to be heard to be believed".
