The Twilight Sad
Nobody Wants To Be Here & Nobody Wants To Leave
Scottish foursome’s gloomy swirls of post-punk & indie rock reach new anthemic heights amongst the dense vocal melodies & swathes of noise.
Where each album prior found the Twilight Sad tackling new sounds & ways of writing, this draws aspects from their entire career. “our live sound has taken on different forms, from full on noise/feedback, to a sparse, synth led sound, to a stripped back set up with just keys, drum machine & guitar, to playing with an orchestra, & to just an acoustic with vocal,” says MacFarlane. “We wanted to try & capture all of those elements & develop them in some way to make the new record.” "simple but effective, the lyrics are bleak, bitter phrases of existential loneliness & torment" 8/10 -nme.
