On this EP Jason Williamson continues to circumvent any spectre of a backlash with more inspiringly snarly and smart onslaughts of midlands beat verse.
As John Peel might have said, it’s “always different, always the same” with the Mods, but here Williamson alludes to new perspectives, now more likely to be staring out from the couch rather than the gutter. Fortunately there’s just as much existential dread to be drawn from the former as the latter, and the songs feel more humorous and self-deprecating as a result. But: still angry, still important, and still great. Favourite line: “I like wine”.
