we love these compilations of stoner/acid/hard-rock obscurities, and salute the crate-digging fervour that must go into uncovering these insane gems and brushing them up for our pleasure.

The legendary Captain Foam kicks off this trip like an anvil to your skull with a rollicking stomper sounding like The Who with Matt Pike’s thunderous guitar tone. then there’s George Brigman’s charmingly disjointed bedroom-fi production of ‘Blowin’ Smoke’, Finch’s way out of time and place grungeadelic anthem ‘Nothing In The Sun’, and Cybernaut’s heavy prog. Not to mention Fargo’s hallucinogenic BBQ-sauce soaked ‘Abaddon’, Mammoth’s fittingly beefy eponymous riff-monger, Flasher’s ‘Icky Bicky’ boogie, Zebra’s gritty rendition of ‘Helter Skelter’ and the mysterious and previously unheard Thor. Righteous!
