Album of the Week : LJ Kruzer : Manhood & Electronics (uncharted audio)

Single of the Week
: Male Bonding / Cold Pumas : Split 7″
(faux discx)

Onto new releases…our album of the week this week is from LJ Kruzer, whose take on melodic electronic music utilises piano, ambience and synth drones to construct an intricate and subtle beauty – very lovely indeed…… Wild Beasts return with a record that vastly improves on their debut – Hayden Thorpe’s remarkable falsetto being supplemented with great songcrafting & infuriatingly catchy tunes… Julian Plenti is the alter ego of Interpol’s Paul Banks & he has created a record of depth & complexity that perhaps would not have been possible with his “other” band… Frankmusik brings us his debut, fizzing with high-energy, pop and frantic digital beats… Shit & Shine return with a ridiculously loud, brutal and weird album, which crushes and disconcerts without taking itself too seriously… Yim Yames (aka My Morning Jacket’s Jim James - some people are just lazy with their pseudonyms) brings us a beautiful ep of George Harrison covers… Harvestman brilliantly fuse old & new with a brilliant hazy psych-folk for fans of Wooden Shjips & Six Organs of Admittance… Lightning Dust is another side project from those epically prolific Black Mountain sorts, heavy on the cosmic and tinged with folk & doom…Acidmothersguruguru brings together psych heavyweights from Acid Mothers Temple & Guru Guru (as you could probably guess from the name) to create first class power-psychedelica… Grizzly Bear reissue their long out of print debut ‘Horn of Plenty’, so anyone who has fallen in love with the incredible ‘Veckatimest’ or ‘Yellow House’ can see where it all began… Ze 30 is the story of Ze records,an influential & revered label which brought post-punk &d disco clashing together…The Girls Are At It Again is a brilliant compilation of previously forgotton recordings from the 1960s uk beat girl scene, which have thankfully been saved from obscurity… MSTRKRFT return with more party starting bangers solely preoccupied with sex & booze. Guaranteed to get the party started…. Antoni Maiovvi brings us his soundtrack to a nonexistent 1983 italian sci-fi film involving utopian moons of jupiter, organised crime, future disco superstars and a secret ancient order which controls the entire universe. hell. yes…. Robert Henke brings us a limited piece of glacially shifting soundscapes, which evolves and shifts gradually… our single of the week is the Male Bonding / Cold Pumas split 7″ – Cold Pumas are one of  the best bands in Brighton right now, go and check out their pulsating metronomic take on Liars/Health/Ex Models/Abe Vigoda at the earliest oppurtunity!  All this & releases from The Twang, The Most Serene Republic,The Steadfast Shepherd, Street Sweeper Social Club,Lucky Elephant, Rec.tangle, Portugal. the Man, Pansonic/Haino Keiji, The Herbaliser Band, Disjokke, Juice Aleem & and many, many more!
