when 2 great billies meet, it is a humbling experience, & here we find zz top's billy gibbons & the bonny prince offering fleetwood mac covers.

it is an inspired pairing to hear billy f gibbons interpret one of peter green’s mac songs. the rolling rhythm of ‘oh well’ is a perfect fit, made more so by a judicious arrangement of the material to suit billy f’s skills. he & the band slow the tempo considerably & deepen the blues to an apocalyptic midnight darkness, surrounding the listener with rolling guitar licks, thundersome, clattering drums & billy’s shreddy rasp. on the aa-side, matt sweeney & bonnie ‘prince’ billy slip on the ethereal quality of ‘tusk’s ‘storms’ & wear it well, shining sunlight through the desultory confessional with streams of guitars & an open vulnerability in the vocals.
