‘Balt Shakt’ is the latest broadcast from murky trailblazers Downliners Sekt.
The duo continue to throw the audience off balance with their hefty sonic surgery, this time with two new tracks, introducing the core onto which they’re building their forthcoming new album. Vinyl-only EP, with both tracks exclusive to this format. The A-side takes a propulsive 4/4 beat on a rumbling ride of high hissing textures, fuzzed out environments and female vocal cut-ups, gradually converting it into a low-end driving force of loose afro-psych jazz grooves. The flip is a mesmerizing trip that starts with abrasive minimal dub-techno and builds into a sombre climax of dusty side-chained pads and jilted garage shuffle. “Few people are making electronica shot through with quite such quiet grace” - FACT Mag
