the title says it all - this is an album full of distortion; it surges from beginning to end with a motorik momentum like some sort of laid back version of the fall or can.

taylor-taylor's ability to write a hook heavy pop song hasn't diminished since the days of 'bohemian like you' and his songwriting is out in full force here even if lyrically he's in a more downbeat mood than the band's previous work (the album closes with the line “I’m too old for this shit.”). reflective and calm throughout, this is smouldering psychedelia awash with distortion - it sounds like eels and earl brutus combined (with a little bit of brian jonestown massacre thrown in for good measure). "the Dandy Warhols are having something of an unnoticed renaissance." - consequence of sound
