Released: 3rd Jun 2016

Whitney make casually melancholic music that fuse the wounded drawl of Townes Van Zandt, the otherworldliness of The Band & the slack groove of Pavement.

Former members of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Smith Westerns, Julien Ehrlich & Max Kacacek came together one harsh Chicago winter both wounded from breakups & began writing. Once ready to make their musical partnership into something more concrete, the duo relocated to warmer territories to record their debut with friend & Foxygen frontman, Jonathan Rado. Now a fully-formed sextet, Whitney recall the musical history of classic bands from the 60s & 70s without sounding revivalist or retro. Moulding classic rock lyricism into new & personal shapes whilst hinting at contrasting areas of America’s rich music history – jazz, soul, folk – this is an album that explores the same wide range of emotions but holds a strong sense of hope throughout.
