the third release from our favourite tiny imprint for bewitchingly beautiful sounds awes us again  with an album of mystical finger-picking, stirring strings and earthen vocal interventions from the inspired Yorkshire artist.

His music acts as an exploration of and meditation on the natural world, evoking rural landscapes in its nimble, evocative compositions. When his voice emerges later in the set, its unadorned tenor is given new space to tell its story, and the album becomes something new once again. A profound work of art, that will especially appeal to those who loved the collaboration between king creosote and jon hopkins, and enjoy guitar pickers such as jack rose. “startlingly beautiful” 8/10 – the line of best fit, “a small masterpiece…a homage of sorts to the subtleties of nature, place and space, played out with a string of instruments that rattle and sweep along together wonderfully” – folk radio
