clark seems to have got some of his grit back, with the relentless bass & swaggering lo-fi drums of second track 'winter linn' marking something of a move away from psychedelic acoustic textures & vocal melodies & a return to the digitised dirt of his earlier albums. on 'unfurla' high speed techno beats propel a detailed melodic construct that could be described as acid-classicism, 'sodium trimmers' has an industrial heft that would make people run for cover through a soundsystem while 'there's a distance in you' recalls the instantly recognisable hallmarks of warp's background purveying intricately programmed idm.
