Baden Powell

Baden Powell was one of the most prominent and celebrated Brazilian guitarists and guitar composers of his time.

He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing, and performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz, and Musica Popular Brasileira. A Vontade presents one of his best albums as a leader, and includes such hits as Garota de Ipanema, Berimbau, and of course, his most famously known composition, Samba Triste. Baden Powell was a key figure in the bossa nova movement, and this album is a quintessential example of the genre and an essential album in any collection of Brazilian music.
