Moons In My Mirror
heavenly recordings
Emerging from a welsh indie scene shared with Gruff Rhys & Sweet Baboo, Huw Gwynfryn Evans’ self-described ‘strange-pop’ explodes with laser-guided guitar lines and whipsmart bi-lingual wordplay.
As an adept multiintrumentalist, evans claws his influences from a broad outer-national record collection comprising of Faustian Krautrock, Welsh Damp Wave, Turk Jerk & South American pre-punk. Producer Cate Le Bon might provide the thrilling, scratchy production, but the spiky melodies & surreal, nightmarish images are very much Evans’ own. "a three-minute cut of immensely pleasing, wiry post-punk bearing some fine lyrical turns ("I never open my post/ I'm a moronic morose"), a natty earworm" - the quietus.
