niney the observer productions : messages from trenchtown
a selection of work from one of jamaica’s great producers who cultivated a distinctive sparse/heavy sound to his productions.
also known for the poignant lyrics that thread through many of his songs, his work with bunny lee (after lee ‘scratch’ perry departed to begin his own label) is a deep roots music catalogue that few can match. this set culls some great tunes that niney added his magic production skills to in the mid 70’s, showing his vast talents & also the cross- section of artists that he worked with. dennis brown provides ‘stages of life’ alongside leroy smarts classic ‘mr richman’, max romeo’s ‘don’t be prejudice’, bob andy’s ‘war war’ & delroy wilson’s ‘pretty girl’.
