Returning with a fresh sonic palette where electric guitar is banned, this is a subtle outing that explores beyond their own self-imposed boundaries.
Free from fret-wanking, Bradfield's focus shifts to his vocal which has never sounded so sweet, ditching his signature rasp, a change which complements the records lush acoustic guitar arrangements. Opener 'This Sullen Welsh Heart' twangs its way into your heart with help from Lucy Rose, Richard Hawley features on the title track & Cate Le Bon makes a welcome guest appearances on the Nico-esque '4 lonely roads'. "There’s no false bravado, no attempts to recapture lost youth, it's a record about ageing, accepting & mourning...It's the best thing they've done in a decade" drowned in sound.
