The Blue Aeroplanes
Beatsongs (Deluxe) (RSD 24)
chrysalis records
Formed in 1981, The Blue Aeroplanes are Bristol's longest running band and a true art- rock institution who have inspired countless post- punk and alternative groups including REM, Radiohead, and Manic Street Preachers.
Recorded at the legendary Ocean Way and Sunset Sound Recorders studios, 'Beatsongs' documents the sound of The Blue Aeroplanes transported from West Country to West Coast. When released in 1991, 'Beatsongs' became The Blue Aeroplanes highest charting album with standout tracks including 'Yr Own World', 'Fun', 'Colour Me', and 'The Boy In The Bubble' (a cover of the Paul Simon classic). Out- of- print on vinyl for over three decades, 'Beatsongs' has been newly remastered for Record Store Day 2024 and includes a selection of B-sides from the era on side four. Pressed on 140g translucent vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve with newly expanded artwork including lyrics, photos, and exclusive new liner notes by Gerard Langley, Alex Lee, and Rodney Allen - remastered by Phil Kinrade at AIR Mastering from transfers of the original production masters
