It feels like we’ve waited forever for a new album from these shop friends but they put their trust in the process, took their sweet time and have finally unveiled a satiating sophomore that has rekindled the Resident adoration of the trio’s melodic mastery.
Our Girl’s trademark dynamics permeate the record, from heavy / reverb-drenched guitars and soaring lead lines to grounding bass chords, insistent drumbeats, ear worm choruses and intimate vocal moments. Filled with warmth and honesty, ‘The Good Kind’ is produced by alt-rock legend, John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse), Fern Ford (The Big Moon, Prima Queen) and Soph Nathan herself. The band embraced their spirit of experimentation which helped them to successfully channel their electrifying live character onto tape. It’s so good to have them back!
