Mairi Morrison & Alasdair Roberts

Drag City

Released: 26th Mar 2012

Released: 26th Mar 2012

scots bard continues his hot streak with the crisp-voiced gaelic invocations of morrison on these playful traditionals.

the pair met in glasgow at the ceol ’s craic night (“music & banter”), founded to promote gaelic tradition. morrison comes from bragar on the isle of lewis, a stronghold of the language, & lowlander roberts’ interest in traditional song has deepened over the past few years. here they’re both in full voice, with a few english language tunes amidst the gaelic. although accompanied by extensive notes, the compulsive rhythms & moods conjured by the band will leave you little time to read – this is an absorbing experience, filled to the brim with colour & the love of life.
