fans of the ‘drive’ soundtrack, john carpenter, daft punk & other analogue-synth heads will find much to love on this beautifully atmospheric record.

the continuing success of the ‘drive’ soundtrack is due in no small part to french electronica artist college, whose track 'a real hero' (featuring electric youth) was selected as the main theme to the film. originally released in 2008, the synth-heavy material on 'teenage color' is crafted from the same cloth: neon-lit french electronic music that sounds distinctively of the '80s. comprised entirely of upbeat instrumentals crafted with analogue keyboards & drum machines, it's a good introduction to the arpeggiated basslines & synthesized handclaps that shape college's later work.
