a raucous musical cocktail of punk, folk & New Orleans blues, this outstanding record calls to mind the blues-soul of alabama shakes & the black keys but will also equally appeal to fans of bright eyes / conor oberst or the rougher edges of the low anthem.

booker himself cites his influences as The Gun Club, Blind Willie Johnson & T. Rex & these greats can all undoubtedly be heard too. the young singer-songwriter plays as a 2-piece with drummer Max Norton, both of whom are based in New Orleans & between them they make a sound so electrifying that they sound like a full band. “He likes to leave the rough edges intact, bringing to mind the houserockin’ records that Hound Dog Taylor once did for Alligator Records in the 70s” - chicago tribune, "he takes the ripped, raw racket of The Dirtbombs & smothers it in fuzzy, inherently moody-sounding riffs” - nme.
