lamontagne's cosmic 60's-sounding outing no longer utilises the rugged, gravelly vocal he built his name on - now he's aligning with the stars that the likes of iron & wine's sam beam, damien jurado or jonathan wilson shoot for.

'Ouroboros' has been co-produced by My Morning Jacket’s Jim James  & his hazy presence makes this a far more dreamy listen than you might expect from the formerly "trouble"-d man. it has many extended pink floyd-y jams & expansive, languid psych-blues explorations that make this a joy to get completely lost in. "lamontagne draws his own dreamy circles in the sand...the drowsing, starry-eyed mood is best served by the instructions issued on 'in my own way': "lock the door / draw the shade" 8/10 - mojo.
