‘connected by love’ introduces a restless, electronic sound to the jack white palette, with soaring backing vocals taking his blues-rock to lofty heights. side b is the heaviest thing we’ve heard from him since ‘blue orchid’, and it plays with time in an exhilaratingly frenetic, almost free jazz way. throw in a couple of stunning, pitch-contorted guitar solos and you’ve got one of the most gripping pieces we’ve ever heard from him!
