this is some dark and gothy, birthday party-worshipping post-punk done right, its murky atmospheres lived-in rather than worn like a costume, and songs luminous with personality.

and whereas others in the genre can sink into saminess, this band have the songs and the snarl to transcend. and if ever twin peaks returns again, the surf-noir of ‘doe-eyed girl’ makes them a shoo-in for the roadhouse. riyl protomartyr, uniform, liars, suicide, etc. “pulverising… it all feels like you’ve just been living a Lynchian nightmare. This is a powerful, accomplished album, and not for the faint-hearted.” – the quietus, “With ‘Shadow on Everything’, guitar music just got a little more frightening again.” 8/10 – loud and quiet
