Swirling & disorientating guitars, a relentless bass & drum assault and earnest lyrics have made Idles one of the best bands out there of recent years, and here they’ve put it all together to devastating effect, with the addition of Kenny beats on production - a difficult 3^rd? Not likely.

Even with the new elements that Kenny beats has introduced and a host of guests, they’ve not lost the live-first approach that has made their shows the stuff of legend. ‘Ultra Mono’ is the sound of a band exploring new directions and new ways they can change and improve, but with a very conscious idea of what made them so interesting and important in the first place.
