Roger Eno And Brian Eno
Decca (UMO) / Classics / Deutsche Grammophon
these seven additional tracks from the sessions of the brothers' deutsche grammophon debut are aptly described as luminous, offering a glittering trove of minimalist piano tranquility.
Following its release in March, 'Mixing Colours' caught the imagination of critics and listeners alike with its eighteen meditations on the slow, shifting nature of sound and time. These tracks from its expanded version add six new pieces along with 'Pewter', previously issued only as a bonus track in Japan. Again the evocative titles are colour-based – Moss, Violet, Manganese, Vermilion, Marble, Pewter and Malachite. And again, the pared-down beauty and meditative qualities of these new miniatures mean that every hearing is rewarded with fresh discoveries. This sits very nicely within listening sessions that include hiroshi yoshimura, satoshi ashikawa and, unsurprisingly, brian eno's ambient works.
