Greetings From Knowhere (RSD 24)
AngloCentric Recordings
With 'Greetings From Knowhere', the eighth studio album by The Members, JC Carroll, Chris Payne and Nigel Bennett with drummer Nick Cash have made something fantastic.
What sets The Members apart is a refusal to roll out the obligatory cliches and a willingness to push the envelope with challenging songwriting and innovative instrumental ideas. The album, with an exclusive RSD Vinyl release, features vignettes of Psychobilly (in the excellent 'In The time B4 the Smart Phone')1960s spy film surf music, crazy Balkan reggae and some tasty guitar playing from Nigel Bennett and JC Carroll. Supersession player and Members mate Guy Pratt adds immaculate bass playing to the title track and a Santana style Reggaeton jam called 'Don't Lie to Me. Hidden on the second side of the vinyl is a wonderful piece of country-punk called 'Time Bomb' that would not be out of place on the Ramones album, thoughthis is not an album for hard-core punk fans. With a gatefold sleeve designed by New Wave art Legend Malcolm 'Images and Co' Garrett MBE., this is an album for people that love quality tunage, humour, variety, and can appreciate The Members originality and uncompromising uniqueness. The Boys from Knowhere have definitely come home!
