With his first album proper in 6 years, Forest Swords is back to lead us down the dark wooded path of his soul, lighting up the route with spectral electronics and vocals that emerge like apparitions.

Very, very happy to be bringing you a Dinked Edition of this one! Originating from the poorly monikered Witch House genre that became aligned with Tri-Angle records, Forest Swords always stood apart with his nascent tribal rhythms, melancholy woodwind, and a willingness to unsettle his listeners at the drop of a (witch’s) hat.

For this second Ninja Tune outing, Matthew Barnes has decked out his playbook with never-before-heard vocal cuts from the likes of Neneh Cherry and Lee Scratch Perry, enrapturing trance melodies which appear to carry the weight of the world upon them, and, like a stalking shadow nipping continually at your heels, it’s pervaded by an obsidian, looming atmosphere that’ll linger long after you’ve hit the run-out groove.

In short, it’s a perfect record to drop just before Halloween.
