This third outing is a celebration of weirdness and unique experiences - an unsettling and moving refusal to play by the rules.
This is Karin Dreijer’s pop record, but just don’t expect a pop record. This is their inversion of pop motifs with references that will only ever be theirs. As a result, it can sound jarring at first, a bit icy, and unapproachable. But trust us when we say it’s worth repeat listens and getting to know intimately - the layers here that open up when you forget your inhibitions and listen to it on its own terms are well worth the patience. The well of chaotic emotion is beguiling, beautiful, and incredibly inventive.
"Everything I loved about this album from the first play has multiplied throughout the months making it stand out as an obvious choice for my album of the year - no contest. The John Waters-esque video for ‘Even It Out’ gives a glimpse to anyone new to Fever Ray of what you’re letting yourself in for, whilst fans of The Knife can’t fail to be delighted with this 3rd album offering from Karin Dreijer. Brooding, synthy excitement." - Jacky
