Kelly Finnigan gives fans exactly what they want with a bonus 45.

The A-side, taken from the record, is an up-tempo Northern soul stomper! Inspired by the Hayes/Porter written and produced soul records out of Memphis, “Get A Hold Of Yourself” is two minutes and fifty seconds of raw soul emotion. Heavy weight drums carry the load on this burner, leaving room for syncopated guitars and bold horns. Finnigan sings a story of a rocky relationship that pushes him and his lover to take things into their own hands. When the emotional part of a relationship is broken, the physical part can suffer. Self satisfaction is the subject matter and Finnigan doesn’t hold back.

The B-side features a brand new bonus cut from the original ‘A Lover Was Born' recording sessions. Written by Memphis soul legend Charles Chalmers in the mid 60’s, “Hurts Me So Much” by Barbara & The Browns on Stax records is the north star of this arousing track. Built off a minor chord 6/8 feel, tremolo guitar and piano rolls counterpoint each other while moody horns are highlighted by gospel tinged background vocals. The story of a love that couldn't be has Kelly singing his woes and pleading about the pain he feels.
