Building on his trademark multi layered motorik groove, neil rudd's synthetic surfaces are yet more highly polished & gleaming like the chrome fins of a streamlined rocket ship on its ascent to the heavens.

Where once, listening to Eat Lights might have focused perhaps on the adored kraut groove of Neu! / La Dusseldorf etc, 'Modular Living' seems to add the key ingredients of slow burning Popol Vuh & Cluster-esque pieces into the mix. Tracks range from the languid electronics of 'Rowley Way Overlook' whose hazy calm speaks of low-gravity stasis as humanity migrates gently to the stars, to the frenetic 'Elektromagnetika'. mesmerising music which expresses a utopian belief in better things yet to come, tinged with a nagging concern that dystopia is never too far away.
