Desmond Dekker

The Best of Desmond Dekker

Released: 18th Mar 2016

scoring seven chart hits between ’67 and ’75, dekker was one of the most prominent early reggae stars in the uk.

His international success in 1969 led to a reggae explosion that took the genre into the mainstream and opened the way for the likes of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff and Toots & The Maytals to follow. Despite his death in 2006, Desmond Dekker remains one of a handful of reggae artists whose glittering careers are still celebrated, inspiring musicians to this day. This collection beings together 40 ska and reggae classics, most notably the singer’s six major UK charts hits, ‘Israelites’, ‘007’, ‘It Mek’, ‘Pickney Gal’, ‘You Can Get It If You Really Want’ and ‘Sing A Little Song’.
