Released: 12th Apr 2019

finding a home for previously abandoned songs spanning 19 years, jurado’s first solo acoustic album was well worth the wait: the definition of beauty in simplicity.

Recorded over the course of two hours one California afternoon, it’s Jurado’s sparsest record to date. Here, there’s only Jurado’s voice, acoustic guitar, and occasional accompaniment from Josh Gordon, playing a high-strung guitar tuned Nashville style, rendering its sound spooky and celestial. If you enjoyed townes van zandt’s acoustic ‘sky blue’ or bob dylan’s most stripped back endeavours, this is a must. “it’s a gorgeous and gutting return to jurado’s ‘rehearsals for departure’-era roots, wandering and bare, wielding only guitar and voice and recorded in one afternoon.” 8/10 – uncut.
